Mining

For more than 30 years, polyethylene (PE) pipe’s unique characteristics have made it the product of choice for numerous applications in the mining industry.

Heat-fused joints create a monolithic structure that allows long lengths of pipe to be pulled from one area to another. PE pipe’s flexibility, abrasion resistance and leak-free joints have helped the product prove itself long-term in demanding environments.

Polyethylene pipe is the accepted standard for these mining applications:

  • Solution Mining
  • Process Water
  • Process Slurry
  • Water Transportation
  • Tailings Transportation
  • Dust Suppression
  • Mine Dewatering
  • Pit Dewatering

Agricultural

HDPE pipes are flexible plastic pipes that are mainly used for industrial and agricultural sectors to transfer fluid or gases. These are the perfect replacements for age old concrete or steel pipelines. Made from high-density polyethylene, these are highly impermeable. This quality makes it suitable for high pressure pipelines.

HDPE has multiple applications. They find use in water and gas mains, sewer mains, rural irrigation, fire system supply lines, drainage pipes and many more. These pipes can be melted, reformed which makes it rugged, flexible and long-lasting.

Water & Wastewater

HDPE is a cost effective solution for a broad range of piping problems in municipal, industrial, marine, mining, landfill, duct and agricultural applications.

High-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) can carry potable water, wastewater, slurries, chemicals, hazardeous wastes, and compressed gases. In fact, polyethylene pipe has a long and distinguished history of service to the gas, oil, mining and other industries.

Building & Civil

High-density polyethylene pipes, like other types of plastic piping, help conserve energy and water by creating virtually leak-free pipes that are not prone to corrosion and resist environmental stress. HDPE pipes also include the added benefits of heat-fused joints, which helps enable the development of one continuous pipeline system, and flexibility, which means they can be bent into place and pulled through exiting pipes.

HDPE pipe offers excellent fusion integrity, enabling the development of one continuous pipeline system. Heat fusion, the process of joining pieces of pipe to each other or other elements (e.g. valves), produces fully sealed connections, which can eliminate potential leak points.

HDPE pipe’s fused joints are self-restraining, thereby eliminating costly thrust restraints or thrust blocks. Furthermore, HDPE pipe’s fused joints virtually never leak, effectively eliminating infiltration and exfiltration problems experienced with alternate pipe joints.

Renowned Fabricators and Welders of HDPE Pipes and Fittings in Africa

For us, welding is more than a process, it’s a promise of reliability, safety, and performance.

Have questions before you get started?

Get in touch with us and we’d be happy to help!

We weld and install HDPE pipes in accordance with the following standards:

  • ISO 21307: 2017 – Plastic Pipes and Fittings: Butt Fusion Jointing Procedure for PE Pipes and Fittings Used in the Construction of Gas and Water Distribution Systems

  • ISO 12176-1: 2017 – Plastic Pipes and Fittings: Equipment for Fusion Jointing Polyethylene Systems, Part I: Butt Fusion.

We provide Fusion Butt-Welding services of HDPE pipes from 63mm to 710mm.

Our Butt-Welding Teams are available for on-site welding all over South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Butt welding is the most efficient method used to join HDPE pipes and fittings. The joining process works by heating two pipe ends and pressing them together, creating a permanent joint that converts sections of pipe into a single, continues line.
